The other day, we were hanging out in the living room, when Kyra told us she was going to be a doctor when she grew up. We told her that was great. Then, Elijah said when he grew up he was going to be an astronaut. Having never heard him talk of such things before, we were excited about such a grand ambition, and we talked about how cool astronauts were for a few minutes. Somehow, I brought up that he had to go to college before he could be an astronaut. The following conversation ensued:
Elijah: “Me not going to college.”
Me: “You have to go to college before you can be an astronaut.”
Elijah: “No me don’t. Astronauts don’t go to college.”
Me: “Yes, they do.”
Elijah” “Astronauts don’t go to college, they go to outer space!”
Me: “Yes, but they have to go to college before they can ever be an astronaut.”
Elijah, looking very sad: “Me not going to college. Me won’t be an astronaut.”
Me: “What are you going to be then?”
Elijah: “Me will just have to be a Power Ranger.”
Well, obviously.
