In my favorite poem by Robert Frost, Nothing Gold Can Stay, he reminds us that like the seasons of nature, life is one season melting into another, and quickly fading away. This is my attempt to document each season in my life and my family.

Rachel and Amy’s Excellent Adventure…Part I

Filed under: Excellent Adventure — Rachel at 8:22 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2007

I am leaving in two and a half hours to go pick up Amy Maxwell at the airport. Yes. THE Amy Maxwell. She is staying with me for a week. Wait. It gets better. Tomorrow, we are going to drive down to Fort Jackson for the 4th. While there, we are going to go to a Chaplain picnic on post and meet some of our new Chaplain’s wife friends.

I’m so excited!!! So, so, so excited. Actually, I think this is a four so occasion. I am so, so, so, so excited!!! This is going to be so fun!

Crazy? Crazy, you say? Hush yo’ mouth! Tell me, what’s crazy about picking up someone you only know from online at the airport and bringing them to live with you for a week? That’s not crazy. (However, I will not be issuing any proclamations of the non-craziness of being picked up at an airport by someone you only know from online and trading your week of childlessness for a week with someone else’s three small children. That, very well, might be crazy.)

After picking Amy up, we are going to meet Sara Horn for lunch, and hope and pray my children act like they have some sense. I’m also having my friend and cousin, Stephanie, ride along with me since I’ve never actually driven to Nashville before. She’s also a little more skeptical of the picking up of friends you’ve never actually shaken hands with before. So, she’s going to protect me…or something like that. ;)

I’m so excited…or have I mentioned that already?

Ahhhhh… Rachel, I want to read your post but I can’t read it. Is there something wrong with my computer? Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful 4th.
