In my favorite poem by Robert Frost, Nothing Gold Can Stay, he reminds us that like the seasons of nature, life is one season melting into another, and quickly fading away. This is my attempt to document each season in my life and my family.

Happy Mother’s Day!

“The Girl I Used To Be”
~Author Unknown~

She came tonight as I sat alone,
The girl I used to be.
And she gazed at me with her earnest eye
And questioned reproachfully:

Have you forgotten the many plans
And hopes I had for you?
The great career,the splendid fame,
all the wonderful things to do?

Where is the mansion of stately height
With all its gardens rare?
The silken robes that I dreamed for you
And the jewels in your hair?

And as she spoke, I was very sad
For I wanted her pleased with me…
This slender girl from the shadowy past
The girl that I used to be.

So gently rising, I took her hand
And guided her up the stairs
Where peacefully sleeping, my babies lay
Innocent, sweet, and fair.

And I told her that these are my only gems,
And precious they are to me;
That silken robes is my motherhood
Of costly simplicity.

And my mansion of stately height is love,
And the only career I know
Is serving each day in these sheltered walls
For the dear ones who come and go

And as I spoke to my shadowy guest,
She smiled through her tears at me.
And I saw the woman that I am now
Pleased the girl I used to be.

I saw that poem on Military Mommy’s blog, and I wanted to post it, too. It’s beautiful, isn’t it? I love it.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of my blogging friends. I hope you all have a wonderful day with your families. Happy Mother’s Day to my mother in law, my grandmother in law, my grandmothers, and especially my mom. I hope you all have a great day, and I love you all!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I think that poem might have been written by Rowena K Lewis. I found it on http://www.sgtmoms.com.

Happy Mother’s Day! So glad you enjoyed the poem. It is one of my all time favorites. :) My girlfriend put a copy of it in her card that she gave me at the baby shower of our first baby. So it is extra special to me. ;)

Hope your day was lovely,
Michelle

I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Mine was great. I love that poem. I think I want to get a copy of it and hang it up here somewhere, so when I am discouraged, I can find it and read it. Beautiful.
