In my favorite poem by Robert Frost, Nothing Gold Can Stay, he reminds us that like the seasons of nature, life is one season melting into another, and quickly fading away. This is my attempt to document each season in my life and my family.

Back In Action (for real, this time)

Okay. So, I said I was getting back to posting again, and then I didn’t post again. Not cool, I know, but I have been really busy.

We went to the lake over Memorial Day weekend. We had fun, for the most part. I’ll try to get some pictures from my mom to put on the blog. I didn’t take any, so she’s got them all on her camera. My brothers are both home on leave. On Sunday, we had some major…and I mean MAJOR family drama happening. If anyone wants to know about that, you can leave a comment and ask. No one wants to participate in my blog, so I’m not going to share that info unless you ask for it. So, there. How do ya like them apples? Okay, so enough of being a tough guy.

After that, we started some major projects. The first of which was building a playground area in our backyard. We put down black plastic, put crossties around the perimeter, and filled it with hardwood mulch. It looks cool. It’s kind of like a park playground. So, then we got a swingset, and it is pretty much built now. It needs the slide attached, but we didn’t have the proper drill bit to drill the holes. Chris had to go to work, so we are going to finish it tomorrow.

We also got the hot tub cleaned and filled up, thanks to help from Malachi and Misty. Me, Chris, and the kids spent a very enjoyable time in it last night. The kids thought it was great. Kyra kept saying, “This feels GOOD!”. I had to agree. It felt awesome.

I have got the pool almost completely drained, so, hopefully tomorrow or Saturday, we will get it cleaned out and filled up.

We are going to have Lowes come and put up a chain link fence around the entire playground area, as well as the area to the side of it where we will have a basketball court. We are going to pour a concrete pad to play basketball on. The fence will keep the kids from falling down the hill. It’s crazy the stuff you have to worry about when you live on a hill like we do, and when you have small children.

The final project will be to build a twelve foot section of deck railing on the end of the deck. That will serve to keep the kids from falling into the pool when we are out on the deck. Oh, and we are going to build steps from the deck up to the playground area. Again, part of living on a steep hill. After that, some cleaning of the deck with a pressure washer, some buying of patio furniture, and the purchasing of a grill, and we will be all set for a summer of outdoor fun. Hoo-rah!

So, that’s been keeping me busy. I know I shouldn’t let it keep me from my blogging, but, so goes life.

Tomorrow is going to be just as busy, but adding some grocery shopping. I have a feeling that our grocery bill is going to increase drastically in the next few months. What with a new mouth to feed.

Nope, no more information, unless you comment, and ask for it. Work with me people!
