In my favorite poem by Robert Frost, Nothing Gold Can Stay, he reminds us that like the seasons of nature, life is one season melting into another, and quickly fading away. This is my attempt to document each season in my life and my family.

Q&A Post

Filed under: General — Rachel at 10:36 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2009

Hello to my three loyal readers. (You know who you are.) I’m going to try something new here at Nothing Gold. A question and answer post. It’s real simple. You ask me questions (here in the comments), and I’ll answer them in an upcoming post. You can ask whatever you want about me, my life, what I think about something, etc. I’ll answer (almost) anything.

Don’t leave me hanging. I hate looking stupid and like the kid no one wants to talk to. So, be my friend, and ask a question.

I’m curious: what do you think has been the biggest turning point in your life?Like a moment when you realized something and it totally transformed how you viewed the world.

Okay, so I guess I am number 3- but I know Amy reads your blog, so maybe you have 4 faithful readers! So here it is- it is kind of a big question, but I have been wondering it lately. You might not want to answer it in such a public place, so feel free to email me if you want.
The last few years, I have been reading your blog, and when I first started, we had a ton in common. We were both at independent fundamental Baptist churches, we had children in ACE ( I think you used to have Kyra in one-maybe I am mistaken about that) schools, we stayed home with our kiddos, both wore skirts all the time, etc. etc… Now, we still have alot in common- (our ages, our kiddos, our mommyness moments) but alot has changed for you! I’ve witnessed alot in your life the last couple of years. Starting up your schooling again, going to a different church, your husband’s change in vocation, leaving behind alot of the fundamentalist ideas…so, I am just curious. What started it all? Do you still consider yourself an independent Baptist? I am not condemning your choices in any way, I am just curious about the journey that you have started on. Was there a defining moment when you decided you wanted to do things differently, or did it slowly happen? Like I said, if it is too private to discuss in such a public forum, then I completely understand. ~One of your devoted readers!
